Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 56303 Unpolished w/ Champagne Tapisserie Dial
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was first created in 1972 and designed by the legendary Gérald Genta. The watch famously drew inspiration for its distinctive octagonal shape from a ship's porthole, and has since become one of the iconic watch designs. The Royal Oak was released as an avantgarde luxury sports watch in stainless steel - highly disruptive amidst the quartz crisis. The Royal Oak has now been in production for over five decades with many variations, but has always retained its quintessential design DNA which makes it one of the few truly timeless designs still being produced today.
This particular Royal Oak is a reference 56303 (D31xxx serial), in stainless steel and solid yellow gold, or "two tone" as it is often referred to, and likely dates to circa 1990. The watch features its very attractive, original champagne tapisserie dial. The watch measures 33mm, although wears very well (and perhaps larger) on the wrist thanks to its integrated bracelet. It is powered by a quartz movement. The bracelet currently has 19 links and will likely fit a 175cm wrist (approximately), whilst also coming with 1 additional link spare.
This watch is a superb example. The dial is in excellent condition without marks or ageing. The case and bracelet are also excellent, unpolished and featuring strong original bevels. The watch has its original hexagonal screw-down crown. The bracelet is tight, excellent and showing no signs of stretch. The glass is also very clean, and the watch is working well.
