Cartier first introduced the Tank Basculante in 1932, shortly after the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, at a time when distinguished gentleman needed a watch that could be protected during activities like playing polo. The Basculante features a reversing case mechanism whilst conceals and protects the dial, similar to the JLC Reverso. Overall these are elegant, classic watches for both men and women and an example of an iconic Cartier model that can be worn everyday if desired.

This particular example of the Tank Basculante is a ref. 2522, which is known as one of the "jumbo" models along with its mechanical counterpart, the ref. 2390. The watch is in stainless steel with a reversible case and a clean reverse side, free of any engravings. It is twinned with its original Cartier blue leather strap and deployant clasp, and is accompanied by its original box and paperwork. 

The overall condition of this watch is very good. The dial is in excellent condition, and the case very good with minimal scratches. The strap and clasp are in very good condition, as are the original box and papers.
