CWC Royal Navy Marines 1997 Issued British Military Quartz Diver
CWC Royal Navy Marines 1997 Issued British Military Quartz Diver
In 1980 CWC, The Cabot Watch Company, were given the contract by the MoD to supply watches to the Royal Navy, essentially replacing the infamous Rolex Mil-Sub. The early examples of these divers watches were automatic until 1983, when they switched to quartz and remained so until the last pieces were issued in 2000. Between 1980 and 2000 it is believed CWC supplied around 3000 divers watches to the Royal Navy.
This particular one was issued to the Royal Marines in 1997, as denoted by its NATO stock reference to case back 0555/6645-99-757-3314 and the issue number 234/97. It is likely there were between 300 and 500 pieces issued in 1997.
It is an excellent, original, collector-grade example and is twinned to a fresh NATO strap.
