Alex's Comments: This watch forms part of the "Dirty Dozen" - twelve Swiss brands contracted to supply watches to the British Army, which began being issued in early 1945. These "WWW" watches as they are known (Watch, Wrist, Waterproof), were the first to be specifically designed and produced for the British Army and have thus become highly collectable and sought-after. Only around 15,000 Vertex examples were supplied and as such, being both scarce and collectable, good examples like this one are becoming harder to find. The case plating on this one is particularly well-preserved, and the watch has an attractive dial and hands. The key with military watches is condition, and I only sell collector-grade examples that I'd be happy owning myself!
